Kizzy Crawford is a dynamic singer-songwriter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist blending soul, folk, jazz, and funk into a sound that’s entirely her own. Bilingual and bold, her music weaves together rich storytelling with a deep sense of place and identity.
Kizzy launched her solo career at just 15, and by 17 had signed to BDi Music publishing. Since then, she’s built a body of work spanning recorded music, theatre, TV, and live performance. Five of her original songs were selected for the WJEC A-Level and GCSE music syllabus in Wales, where they continue to be studied alongside Welsh icons like Gruff Rhys and Super Furry Animals.
She is currently composing an original score for a bespoke, hour-long production with Ballet Cymru- her latest move into ambitious, cross-disciplinary work. She’s also writing new material for her third studio album.
Kizzy’s music has been championed by BBC Radio 1, 2, 4, 6Music, Jazz FM, BBC Radio Cymru, and BBC Radio Wales, with her single Progression added to Jo Whiley & Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio 2 playlist, and featured on Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Club Volume 6.
Her live performances have lit up stages across Glastonbury, Festival No. 6, London Jazz Festival, Womex, Hay Festival, Celtic Connections, Green Man, Blissfields, Cornbury, and beyond. She’s performed across Europe and Canada, including at M for Montreal and The Prince Edward Island Festival with support from PRS Foundation.
Recent festival highlights include Y Lle Da | The Good Place in Tenby, Trawsnewid in Aberystwyth, and Gwyl Y Pethau Bychain in Machynlleth. Recently, Kizzy performed at How The Light Gets In in Hay-on-Wye and Seascape Festival in Porthcawl. Coming up she will be at Gŵyl Tawe in Swansea and will also tour Bermuda.
In theatre, Kizzy starred in the title role of the award-winning show Petula for National Theatre Wales, and in Whimsy for Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.
As a composer for screen, her credits include the BBC documentary June: Voice of a Silent Twin, the short film Complexity of Skin, and two seasons of original music for S4C’s children’s show Tipini. Other commissions include Simple Acts for National Theatre Wales and Death of a Fool for Welsh National Opera.
Kizzy has also featured in several television dramas, most notably as PC Emma Jones in the award-winning BBC series Keeping Faith/Un Bore Mercher.
In 2018, she collaborated with jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock and Sinfonia Cymru on Birdsong – Can Yr Adar, inspired by the Celtic rainforest of Carngafallt. The project toured Wales and the London Jazz Festival, and was later released by Basho Records.
Whether performing live, scoring for screen, or creating for the stage, Kizzy Crawford continues to push creative boundaries, amplify underrepresented voices, and redefine what contemporary Welsh music can sound like.
